Sarah Dambanevana’s continued progression as an umpire as she became the first female from Zimbabwe to stand in a Cricket World Cup Final.

That was when she was one of the on-field umpires for the final of inaugural ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 Cricket World Cup, contested between India and England.

As she did in the semis, the former Zimbabwe Women’s player had

Candace La Borde of the West Indies on the opposite end.

Vanessa De Silva was the match referee, with   Dedunu De Silva on TV and Lisa McCabe for an all-female officials list.

Dambanevana is in the International Panel of ICC Development umpires.

In 2022, she made history as she became the first woman to stand in Zimbabwe Domestic final, when she stood in the Women’s Fifty50 Challenge.

Another compatriot, Owen Chirombe, was involved in the tournament as referee.
