Suspect arrested in fatal Chipinge drunken stabbing

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced the arrest of a suspect in a fatal stabbing incident.

The ZRP confirmed the arrest of Simbarashe Mahanya (23) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Njere Village, Chipinge on 10 May 2026.

Mahanya allegedly stabbed Joshua Sithole (24) with an okapi knife on the jaw, shoulder and chest following a misunderstanding during a beer drinking spree.

The victim later succumbed to the injuries.

There has been a worrying increase in the number of victims killed by stabbing, especially during drinking sprees.
