The final countdown is on for the world’s biggest football tournament, the FIFA World Cup, which runs from Friday June 11 to Sunday July 19, and which Zimbabwean DStv viewers on packages from Access up can see live and in full on SuperSport.

MultiChoice Zimbabwe head of corporate affairs and public relations Gerald Ngonyamo said that, with just over a month to go, all eyes in sport were on the host countries, the United States of America, Mexico and Canada, where the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the biggest yet, featuring 48 nations, unforgettable rivalries and non stop action.

“With match times stretching late into the night here in Africa, one thing is clear: sleep can wait,” he said. “SuperSport, Africa’s home of football, will deliver comprehensive World Cup coverage with dedicated 24-hour channels, multiple language options and simultaneous matches, so viewers never miss a goal as longe as you are a paid-up DStv customer.

“The World Cup is more than just a sporting tournament: it’s a shared global moment, and our goal as a host broadcaster for Africa is to ensure that fans across Africa can experience every goal, every story and every unforgettable moment as it happens.”

Special promotional packages and hardware sales have been introduced for the World Cup season, including a decoder special and availability of all matches on the Access package, which really widens the net of who can see one of the greatest sporting phenomena in the world. This means accessibility to all packages up to and including DStv Premium.

Mr Ngonyamo said that DStv “is the best stadium in which to watch the FIFA World Cup, with all 104 matches broadcast live over 39 days of non-stop football.“Fans will enjoy 24/7 coverage across dedicated SuperSport channels that will be renamed for the World Cup, including a bonus FIFA World Cup pop-up channel.”

Additional to the matches, viewers will be treated to highlights, expert analysis, exclusive World Cup magazine shows, African football stories and behind-the-scenes content, all delivered through a distinctly Pan African lens with top local commentators.

“Flexible viewing options include live TV, Catch Up, replays and streaming, and fans can watch the World Cup anytime, anywhere, their way,” said Mr Ngonyamo. “From your living room to your smartphone, the World Cup moves with you.”
