Ryan Burl staked a claim for inclusion in the upcoming senior one day international series against Afghanistan with a run-a-ball 105 in the final Zimbabwe A game at Harare Sports Club.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first against an Afghanistan A side that had won four on the trot with some ease in this series.
And it looked like more of the saem when Innoncent Kaia was removed with the score on 6-1. Tari Musakanda (25) then joined Peter Moor(38) for a 51 run partnership.
Enter Burl and it was his 127-run partnership with Malcolm Waller (68), that set the stage for a big score for Zimbabwe. 300 looked on the cards but both fell in quick succession it was only Mutombodzi who got double figures as the locals closed on 288/8.
Tendai Chatara removed both openers in the first over. The only partnership of some note followed between Rahman Gul and Noor ul-Haq for 23 followed. After that wickets fell regularly. Chatara ended up with figures of 3-13 off 6 overs. Under-19 stars Brandon Mavuta and Richard Ngarava were 3-24 and 3-20 as Afghanistan A were bowled out for 73.
