She was speaking at a welcome reception for the Ireland cricket team which is around for three one day internationals and a four day game in Harare.

She said:

There is no ban on UK sporting tours to Zimbabwe. During my time as Ambassador to Zimbabwe, I want to work to create the conditions where planning for a full England tour of Zimbabwe can take place.

Of course this is something that won’t happen in her time as the Queen’s representative in Zimbabwe but it is pretty excting that she wants it to happen.

Ambassador Laing also spoke of her country’s commitment to support grassroots development cricket with the refurbishment of Mabvuku cricket grounds and supporting coaching clinics in partnership with the Mabvuku Development  Trust. She added that her country was looking closely at whether it could support rugby and football based development programmes too.

Zimbabwe will play Ireland in three one dayers on 9, 11 and 13 October followed by a four-day game between the 17 th and 20th of October. All matches are Harare Sports Club.
