So Toga and Chioneso’s song Eddymore has really lit the blue tocuhpaper and you can understand why.
It has a lot of the homely feels that made the world of the 80s impossibly forever-chasing in sound. There is a confluence in the classic township style of Chioneso and pseudo dance in the production. Check out the way she says his name in the adlibs. Never mind that you can sing things after having one or two more than your missus or doctor would let you to have.
It feels so… intimately Zimbabwean, like you might just know an Eddymore among your friends. And would like to tell him to behave.
And then have a beer and a dance afterwards singing… Eddymoooooore.
And you wonder why it has done so well on the charts.
