Congolese soukous singer Koffi Olomide will spend the next three months in jail for kicking one of his dancers.
It could worse for the Loi singer as prosecutors are pushing for a longer sentence.
Olomide was arrested in Kinshasa following a campaign calling for his after he kicked one of his dancers at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya on Friday. This resulted in his getting deported from the country. Another show in Zambia has since been cancelled too.
Olomide apologised for the incident – after first denying it (like we didn’t see it on camera) – before saying it was a moment of madness that had brought the reaction.
According to reports from Kinshasa the campaign to have him arrested had been started by by Congressman Zakarie Bababaswe, who started a petition. The arrest was followed by jubilation locally and internationally.
Someone needs to ask: Does the sleazeball kick them like that in private, or even worse happens?
