Police roadblocks back next week and here is the thing…

The dreaded police roadblocks return next week, it has been confirmed.

This is apparently in response to the accidents that have been taking place.

The work will be a partnership with the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe and the Vehicle Inspection Department.

Now this will have us thinking about those dreaded days when the boys and girls in some kind of blue would harass us on the streets.

Well it is hard situation to reconcile because of the loads of accidents we have had. Driving fro, Harare to Bulawayo just this weekend there were very few roadblocks but you could not keep track of the number of people overtaking, overtaking in areas not allowed to, stopping at undesignated points, drinking and the more.

You see, while we do not fancy the police presence on the road, we fancy death less. And because some of us who are in a minority we are sure, have not been able to behave responsibly with the liberties given, we understand the need for traffic police.

That said, the police will need to make it smooth. And can we not have charges for frivolous thing that can be dealt with a warning. There is an indication that a concerted effort will be made to be different.

May it be so…
