Interim coach Norman Mapeza has appointed chief striker Knowledge Musona as the new captain of the Zimbabwe national men’s team.
Musona takes over from Willard Katsande who is not part of the squad. While the Zimbabwe Football Association says the latter could still yet play for the nation, some quarters say his time with the green and gold is up.
Musona meanwhile, in speaking to Zifa’s website said:
I think it is a great honour to represent the country and I really appreciate the coach for choosing me.
I know everyone here deserves to be captain and we are all leaders, [however] I will take the responsibility with the rest of the team, working together and sharing ideas.
Zimbabwe play Liberia on Sunday this week. Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo are in the same group.
Meanwhile tell us what you think of Knowledge Musona as new Warriors Captain in the comments section below.
