This is after disturbances that led to the abandonment of their tie against FC Platinum.

This was after FC Platinum were awarded a contested penalty deep into injury time converted by Petros Mhari. A few Highlanders fans then started throwing objects onto the field and police teargased them.

Highlanders chairman, Morden Ngwenya said the police’s decision to use teargas was wrong.

There was no need to throw the teargas, the pitch was clear and ready for the match to continue. We had calmed the supporters and the situation was normalising. The teargas was a bit hurried, you even saw it yourself.

With the Highlanders abandoned match hanging over their heads, Highlanders are in a spot of bother.

The League says it will be ‘decisive’ in its action and would not be swayed by emotions, frustrations, disappointments and feelings’ of what it calls ‘misguided elements’.
