Sri Lanka women beat Zimbabwe

The Sri Lanka women were a bit too good for Zimbabwe beating them by a solid 8 wickets with 79 balls remaining in Women’s World Cup Qualifier.

Mary-Anne Musonda top-scored again for the Southern African side with a gritty 32. She with Ashley Ndiraya (24) was involved in the highest partnership of the match with 49.

Precious Marange did well with the bat scoring 29 which including the innings’s only six.

Earlier openers Loren Tshuma (16) and Modester Mupachikwa(11) achieved Zimbabwe’s best opening stand of 30.

But it was always a tough ask against the hosts as Zimbabwe as they were bowled for a modest 149 on the stroke of 50 overs.

Zimbabwe laboured for long periods against the hosts and were generally luckless save for Loren Tshuma who accounted for openers Chamari Atapattu (58) and Nipuni Hansika (26).

Sri Lanka ended on 153 for the loss of two wickets on 36.5 overs.

Zimbabwe now play their final match of the group against a high-flying India side.
