QUICK SONG REVIEW: Tha Slayer – She Loves Me

She Loves Me is the latest release from Tha Slayer , the newest signee to DollarSign Music, a powerhouse home to Sinbad, Thabbz and Baller.

Produced by the award-winning Fun F the song details the relationship between Slayer and his girl -the music industry.

In the song the rapper carries the plight of all other artists who think the music industry  is  an easy and  exploitable avenue to fame and success. They just don’t happen to crack the code to this wonderland despite how promising and alluring it is, hence the personification of a girl who tells you that she loves you but could never prove her love.

But what’s really fascinating about this song is Slayer’s challenges to the girl.

Conceptually and structurally, even sound-wise,  it is a great song. It’s a rare thing these days to see insanely creative artists who still hide their messages behind great literary devises like personification. Slayer is one of the brilliant few. But, we just didn’t agree with the way it’s delivered. The level of profanity on this song is just intolerably high especially in our Zimbabwean context. The N-word. The F-bomb. The B-word. What not?

See, this is one of the reasons why a lot of our artists are getting the Demi Lovato treatment from the industry .

Good story, a bit raw, but still worth your attention.

Listen to the song and give us your ratings.
