So Highlanders fans ave gone onto social media en masse and blamed the referees for denying them victory against their bitter rivals Dynamos in Harare.
Boss had taken the lead through Njabulo Ncube in the 51st minute only for Dembare defender Partson Jaure scored in the sixth minute of injury time in what was an evenly balanced match.
The thing upsetting the fans is that the referee had indicated that there would four minutes of time added on to be played. If the match had finished when it was meant to then then Bosso would have claimed victory.
A Highlanders FC account posted this on Facebook:
4 mins were added for injury time but we played 7 mins. Was my watch not correct, or did i do some wrong calculations.
This caused a flurry of responses accusing the referees of match-fixing with some saying such officiating was killing football.
This will add fuel to the fire that came from Bosso coach Kelvin Kaindu when he lamented about the refereeing in Zimbabwe, even threatening to quit. After losing to the same opposition in the Uhuru Cup, he said:
I think I am having a problem now to coach in Zimbabwe because every time I try to ask, I am being told the same thing that I will go to the stands… I think I have done something (good for the game). I came to improve football in Zimbabwe, but the referees are not giving me the platform… Honestly, I came here to improve football but if I continue being handled this way I would rather leave and go back to Zambia.
This discussion will no doubt continue well into the week.
This was Dynamos’s fifth draw in a row.
