Well, erm, yah, the Sports and Recreation Commission has said four ministers will travel to Zimbabwe’s debut in the Vitality Netball World Cup in Liverpool ‘in support of the Girl Child and sport in general’.
In a tweet the minsters are Monica Mutsvangwa (Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services), Sithembiso Nyoni ( Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development), Priscah Mupfumira (Environment and Tourism) and Yeukai Simbanegavi (Deputy Minister of Youth, Arts Sport and Recreation).
The Netball Team leaves for Liverpool tomorrow (Thursday) all managed to get visas. 26 players & officials, 2 officials from Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts & Recreation and 1 SRC official being the Team’s Secretariat, added the body.
What we are happy for though is that they have refuted the claim that 26 government officials will travel for the games.
What we are not so keen on is why so many ministers?
Oh well. Pretty sure we will find out the reason at some point, but it does feel a bit odd.
By the way, SRC says the budget for the ministers will be different from that for the Gems.
