Zim PSL Match Day 21 Wednesday roundup: Caps go top, Akbay red carded for pelting ref

Caps United jumped to the top of the log of the Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with a 2-1 victory over Black Rhinos in Wednesday’s match day 21 action.

John Zhuwawu got a late winner after Francisco Zvekuwambire had cancelled Newman Sianchali’s opener. They now take a one point lead on the log.

They took advantage of a slip-up from FC Platinum, who were held 1-1 at Hwange. Perfect Chikwende gave the champions the lead before Ernest Gwitima converted a penalty early in the second half. Gift Mbweti was sent off late for FC Platinum. The champions do however have a game in hand over Caps United.

The big story of the day saw Ngezi Platinum coach Erol Akbay sent off for pelting assistant referee Sanele Sibanda with a water bottle in a 2-0 loss to Chicken Inn. Obriel Chirinda scored both goals for Chicken Inn.

ZPC Kariba were 3-0 winners over Bulawayo Chiefs when to go level on points with FC Platinum. Tawanda Nyamandwe, Boniface Zuberi and Robson Hunda were on target.

Rahman Gumbo picked up his first win as TelOne coach as they beat Yadah 3-1. Jacob Muzokomba, Tafadzwa Sibanda and King Nadolo were on target for the WiFi boys while Nkosi Mhlanga scored for Yadah.

Dynamos survived a late comeback as they came away 3-2 winners over Herentals after leading through goals from Godknows Murwira, Evans Katema and Nigel Katawa. Blessing Majarira and Alfred Gona scored in second half injury time but there was not enough time to complete to a miraculous comeback for Herentals.

Mushowani Stars had Clive Dzingai to thank for their 1-0 win against Manica Diamonds.
