Both Platinum sides were big winners on match day one of Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League on Saturday.
After Tino Benza had scored the opening goal of the season to give his Herentals side a 1-0 win Harare City on Friday, the league moved to a massive Saturday.
Reigning league champions FC Platinum made a statement of intent, running away 6-1 winners over new boys Tenax. This was thanks a Thando Ngwenya brace with the other goals from Donald Teguru, Innocent Mucheneka, Brian Banda and Oscar Bhebhe.
Anelka Chivandire opened the scoring for Ngezi Platinum in there 5-0 victory over Bulawayo City. Nyasha Chintuli then completed a hat-trick with Walter Vuwa rounding off the scoring.
Edgar Mhungu and Tawanda Macheke scored to help Black Rhinos beat Highlanders 2-0.
Leeroy Pini scored the only goal as Chicken Inn defeated Cranborne Bullets 1-0. Caps United and ZPC Kariba played out a goalless draw.
