With four games to go, defending champions FC Platinum are one point away from winning the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League title.

It is a title they will retain and they will be well worth their win because of three major reasons:
- They simply do not concede: “Defence wins championships”, it is often said in US sport. In 31 matches, they have 21 clean sheets. They have conceded 14 goals all in all (only four of those at home) while bagging 50 on the other hand.
- They bounce back quickly: FC Platinum did not suffer any back to back losses in the league. Their longest winless streak was three matches which had one loss but two draws after that.
- They’re drama-free: Other clubs will have strike action, pitch invasions, you never hear of any weird things coming out of FC Platinum. This suggests a high level of professionalism coupled with a metronome determination to pick up wins.
- Rodwell Chinyengetere: The 30 year-old’s knack for scoring goals in tight matches has seen him pick up multiple players of the month awards this year. This has allowed them to convert drawing positions at half time to wins in 15 of their 21 games. That is the highest in the league.
- Norman Mapeza: The coach is focused, an Otaku even. His has motivated a team to play football the way he wants them to and built a machine based on his principles. He has a clear vision of what he wants to achieve and is singularly minded about who he uses to get there. The fact that FC Platinum retained him and resisted the advances of the Zimbabwe Football Association to snare him for the national team is the feather in the cap for Pure Platinum Play.
The final three matches of the season for FC Platinum are against relegated neighbours Shabaie Mine followed by Ngezi Platinum and before a final match day clash with Highlanders.
Now for the continent…
