The Council of Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) has moved swiftly to clear the air of the status of its president, Philip Chiyangwa who lost the position at the helm of his home association.
In saying he remained the president of Cosafa the body said:
The Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) would like to confirm that Dr Phillip Chiyangwa remains president of the organization despite relinquishing his position with the Zimbabwe Football Association.
After numerous media enquiries, COSAFA can assure member associations that there is nothing in the organization’s constitution that states the president must also hold office with their home football association.
Chiyangwa lost his position at the Zimbabwe Football Association, defeated by Felton Kamambo in elections on Sunday.
