On Sunday, he surpassed former top-order batsmen Grant Flower (6,571) who sat second. In scoring 46 in the second ODI against Bangladesh at Harare Sports Club, he reached 6,600 runs on the day. it could have been even better but for a confusing decision where he was given out hit wicket by TV umpire Langton Rusere.

Taylor is now just 186 runs behind the legendary Andy Flower who sits on 6,786. With one more match in this series and the upcoming tours to Ireland and Scotland, he should get to that record soon.

What makes it even more impressive is he went past Grant’s total in 20 less matches. Taylor played in his 201st match in which he has been involved in 200 innings.

Taylor already holds the record for the most centuries with 11 and currently has the best average with 35.76.

Taylor now sits at number 51 in terms of highest run-scorers of all time in ODI history.

Having sat out three years from international cricket, you wonder where he would have been by now.
