Zimbabwe Independent Editor Dumisani Muleya and Chief Reporter Owen Gagare were charged and released on Tuesday in Harare.
The pair were summoned to the Harare Central Police Station where they have been charged under section 31A.3 Criminal codification Act “for publishing statements prejudicial to the state”.
This is in relation to a story which was published in the weekly a fortnight ago claiming that the MDC-T and security service chiefs had been having meetings.
The service chiefs are on public record saying that they have not and will never meet the MDC-T.
The police will now proceed with the case by way of summons.
