Floyd Shivambu has resigned as Deputy President of the Economic Freedom Front (EFF) and will join former SA President Jacob Zuma’s Mkonto WeSizwe (MK) Party.
“I am going to be actively involved in uMkhonto we Sizwe party”, he says that is to end the speculation.
Shivambu, a co-founder of the EFF, handed in his resignation on Wednesday night.
He would not be drawn to providing reasons for his departure, saying he would not comment on reasons, stating that party leader Julius Malema remained his brother.
Malema said when he received the letter, he felt the pain he felt when he received the news of the death of his mother. He added that Shivambu was welcome to come back.
Malema also announced that Mzwanele Manyi has also left the EFF to join Mk Party. He added that there would be many other people who are loyal to Shivambu who will leave to join the MK Party.
Both said the relationship between MK and EFF would not be affected by the move.
