VIDEO: WOZA Protest Outside Human Rights Commission Offices

We caught the tail end of what seemed to a be a largely peaceful demonstration by Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA) in Harare outside the Human Rights Council offices on Samora Machel Avenue.

This is over a statement made by President Robert Mugabe on 29 April 2015 which has been interpreted in some quarters as an attack on the Kalanga people.

Government has said that these comments were taken out of context but it seems the women of WOZA are having none of it, it would seem as they called on the president to ask for forgiveness. (We won’t be holding anyone’s breath never mind our own for that)

Watch the WOZA speech below:

Curiously after the speech the group of 40-50 women dispersed and one was overheard saying that they were going off to parliament where they expected a beating.

Is it a setup? No idea.
