At least 15 people are dead with 32 injured following 3 church bombings in northern Nigeria on Sunday.
The first two bombings were within minutes of each other in the town of Zaria in Kaduna state. In one of them a suicide bomber rammed into a church around 9 in the morning. The other bombing happened an hour and half later.
Christian youths reacted violently burning tyres and blocking major roads. Kaduna is now under 24-hour curfew.
The bombings are the latest of a string of attacks in the Muslim dominated north where the militant group Boko Haram has declared war on christians. It refers to itself as the ‘Nigerian Taliban’. Earlier this year Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan expressed his concern that the Boko Haram would plunge the country into civil war.
The group has threatened to drive christian Nigerians our of the north.
Our thoughts are with the people of Nigeria.
