Woman gets 15 years for arranging sexual violation of underage neighbour

In a twisted set of events, a 20-year-old woman, and her 28-year-old uncle will spend the next 15 years for setting up the rape of a 15-year-old neighbour.

They were sentenced after appearing before the Marondera Magistrates’ Court for rape.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) The woman facilitated for her uncle to rape their 15 year old neighbour.

The NPA tells the harrowing story:

“On the 27th of January 2024, at a village in Wedza, the second accused person approached the complainant (15) and informed her that she wanted to sleep over at the complainant’s house because her grandmother was away,” the NPA said.

“She asked the complainant to accompany her back home to fetch her cellphone. When they entered the kitchen, the second accused person closed the door and blocked the exit, while the first accused person tripped the complainant from behind.

“The first accused person raped the complainant once while the second accused person watched and then ordered her to go home, threatening to kill her if she told anyone. The complainant did not inform
anyone because she was the eldest at home and her parents were not around.

“The matter came to light on the 3rd of February 2024 when the complainant told her aunt about her ordeal. The complainant’s aunt reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused persons.”

The pair was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each.
