Controversial Harare-based Prophet Talent Madungwe (38) has been sentenced after appearing before the Epworth Magistrates’ Court facing two charges for violating the Road Traffic Act, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is reporting.

The charges include driving without a valid licence and negligent driving.

The State stated that, on the 6th of August 2024, at around 10:20 hrs, Madungwe was driving a Toyota Aqua out of his home. As he turned right onto a strip road near Airport Road, he collided with a Nissan NP300 single cab travelling towards the Harare Central Business District. The Nissan sustained minor damage to its load box because of the sideswipe.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Madungwe was operating the vehicle without a valid Driver’s licence.

In court, Madungwe was handed a wholly suspended four-month prison sentence for the first count of driving without a licence. The suspension is conditioned on avoiding committing similar offences, such as negligent driving, for five years.

For the second count, related to negligent driving, the court sentenced Madungwe to six months imprisonment. However, three months of this sentence were suspended for five years, and the remaining three months were converted into 105 hours of community service, which he must complete as part of his punishment.
