It wasn’t just you. Most of Zimbabwe had no power on Tuesday morning

The farce that is the Zimbabwe Electricity Distribution Company (Zetdc), where the distribution is often silent these days continued.

After announcing an increased ‘load curtailment’ for an indefinite period, which is fancy speak for loadshedding, most of Zimbabwe reported power outages on Tuesday morning for at least an hour.

Even areas which do not usually suffer outages such as those around the President’s residence were left without electricity from 10.30am for at least an hour. The Harare and Bulawayo Central Business Districts all reported having no power for an extended period.

Court proceedings had to be stopped because of the lack of power. Some cases had to be postponed.

Outages were also reported in parts such as Tsholotsho, Masvingo, Esigodini and Gwanda. It is not clear whether the reason was the same or merely coincidence.

As for the cause, well we will hear from Zetdc when they share it.

With President Emmerson Mnangagwa landing back in Zimbabwe on Tuesday morning, fresh from the bright of New York City, we wonder if there will be a reaction.

Probably not.
