Ghana to open its international airport this week and there is no quarantine

Ghana is the latest African country to announce that it has opened its airport to international flights.

Kotoka International airport will open on 1 September 2020.

Travelers must have taken a PCR test within 72 hours of leaving their country of origin

A PCR test. The test could be administered at any of the over 70 sampling collection booths set-up at the upper level of the Arrival Hall, with the results being ready within 30 minutes.

Passengers will have to bear the cost of the PCR test estimated to be between GH¢200-400 (USD35-USD30).

If you test negative, you will be allowed to enter Ghana without quarantine.

If you are positive then you will be handed over to health authorities for treatment and isolation as is fit.

Children under 5 will not be required to undergo testing at the airport.

Ghana joins Nigeria, Namibia, Kenya and Rwanda among African nations which have opened up flights. Kenya in particular opened up its airport to Zimbabweans among its first group of countries allowed in.

Zimbabwe has opened up arrivals in a relative way to immigrants although it is not quite as much as the others.
