Dispute over Arsenal performance results in stabbing

Meluleki Ndlovu (40) appeared before the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court on attempted murder charges, the Zimbabwe’s National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is reporting.

Prosecutors allege that on 9 April, 2024, Ndlovu encountered the complainant who was returning home from his brother’s residence. The two reportedly engaged in a discussion about football, centered on Arsenal Football Club’s performance. That was the day Arsenal played out a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.

A disagreement ensued, leading Ndlovu to insult the complainant. The argument intensified, and Ndlovu allegedly stabbed the complainant in the stomach with a knife before fleeing the scene.

The case has been postponed to 26 April, 2024.
