A Chipinge man has been held in remand after allegedly murdering a love rival, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is reporting.
Mike Shingai of Gaza, Chipinge, was remanded by the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court on murder charges.
Allegations are that, on the 31st of October 2024, Shingai found his girlfriend in the company of another boyfriend, the now deceased Heriman Kazembe, in her bedroom.
This did not go down well with Shingai, who decided to take the matter into his own hands.
Armed with a log, he confronted Kazembe and struck him with the wooden log on the head. The startled and injured Kazembe ran for about four metres before he fell.
A neighbour who heard Kazembe crying rushed and stopped Shingai from inflicting more harm on his vicitm.
Kazembe left the household but never reached his home. He was found lying along Birchenough-Mount Selinda Road. He died upon hospital admission.
Shingai was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
