Nominate Zimbabwean Designers for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Awards

The inaugural Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week AFRICA is set to take off October 24th to the 28th. With this comes the opportunity for Zimbabwean Fashion artists based wherever in the world to be nominated.

The nominations are running from today(9 October 2012)  to tomorrow(10 October 2012). Each e-mail address is allocated 5 votes and this is a chance to get our Zimbabwean designers, make-up artists, media to be recognized.

The Categories for the 2012 AFI African Fashion Awards that apply to Zimbabweans are:

1. Designer of the Year [Africa]

2. Designer of the Year [International]

3. Emerging Designer of the Year [Africa]

4. Emerging Designer of the Year [International]

5. Accessories Designer of the Year

6. Outstanding Contribution to Make-up Direction

7. Outstanding Contribution to Hair Direction

8. Outstanding Contribution to Fashion Styling

9. Outstanding Fashion Photographer

10. Outstanding Fashion Communicator of the Year

11. Model of the Year

12. Male Style Icon of the Year [Public Voting]

13. Female Style Icon of the Year [Public Voting]

14. Outstanding Contribution to the Fashion

15. AFI Young Designer of the Year

Just to mention a few designers to possibly nominate:

Accessories Designer of the Year – Ndau Collection (www.ndaujewelry.com) A Victoria Falls based jewelry designers from Zimbabwe (Gail vanJaarsveldt, Joe Mutoko, Christie Halsted, Christie Brookstein), email: [email protected] .

Emerging Designer of the Year [Africa] – Maita Marimo (www.maitamarimo.net) A young Zimbabwean designer based in Harare, email: [email protected] .

Emerging Designer of the Year [International] – Farai Simoyi (www.faraisimoyi.com ) A designer born in Zimbabwe and now based in New York City has had international recognition, email: [email protected].

Categories are classified for African based designers and those in the Diaspora to

acknowledge the varying access to resources in both bases. Visit the nomination link – http://awardnomination.afi.za.com/ and complete a nominations form for each person that you want to nominate and submit it to AFI by no later than Wednesday, 10th of October 2012 (Tomorrow).
