And our MobStar of the Year 2019 is…

2019 was a year which was confusing in Zimbabwe because it was like a dish of sweet and sour pork.

Except in this instance, the blend of sweet and sour was not quite working because the sweet was freaking amazing and the sour was boiled spine in a bucket of urine with turd swirling around.

But in choosing our champions of the year we had a few in mind. In all of the madness, there was motorcross star Tanya Muzinda sending kids to school, Freeman Chari rounding up support for Cyclone Idai as well as mobile clinics during the doctors’s strikes, Kuda Musasiwa raising money for university students and much more.

But there was a big moment for us.

It was the national netball team and the diaspora community showing a side of Zimbabwe many did know about us. They played with energy and hearing the diaspora community in England sing songs from our own country loud at the top of their voices was a beautiful moment.

They captured the hearts of minds of many and showed that Zimbabwe is more than its politics.

We salute them.
