Austria-based Bulawayo musician Vusa Mkhaya has dropped a new video fro the single Manyanyatha.
And the first feeling is that of belonging somewhere. And it is encapsulated in the chorus.
Dlala Manyanyatha
The traditional dancing makes you feel like you are on the dusty streets of Mzilikazi or at MaPhiri in Matshobana, soaking in the essence of his ghostly, gentle voice for the ages.
And the dances… we love the dances clothed in full smiles.
We figured Mkhaya missed home when he wrote this:
I wrote the song coz I missed home and also remembering people who made me to be who I am today, my Mother, my Sister, my cousin and my Uncle and my Grandmother You will notice I mention their names on the video. Sadly from the people I mention my Uncle is the only one still alive.
Sad but it is from a place of love and that defines its emotions.
The full CD Umanyayatha is out on iTunes, Spotify etc on Thusday 24 November.
