Constitutional Referendum End Of March

Zimbabwe’s constitutional referendum will be held at the end of  March according to a government official.

This is said to be in line with a schedule which will see the draft which was two weeks ago agreed upon by the principles being tabled before parliament on 8 February according Constitution Select Committee (Copac) co-chair Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana.

After the parliament bit there will be  a public awareness campaign which will see all the major parties push for a yes vote.

An exact date for the referendum will be declared by the president.

Clauses in the new constitution will come into effect as soon as the constitution is drafted or when the presidential election winner is installed into power. Only the running mate clause will come into place ten years from now.

All this happening will depend on when the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission gets money to get down to business.
