Zimbabwe’s Olympic legend Kirsty Coventry has landed a post of the International Olympic Athletes Commission.
She was one of 21 candidates vying for four posts into the IOC Athletes’ Commission during the elections that were held at this year’s London Games.
Zimbabwe’s Minister for Education, Sport, Arts and Culture, David Coltart was quick to offer his congratulations via his twitter account:

Meanwhile, two candidates voted by London Games athletes to represent them as were however removed from the election for breaking rules by campaigning too hard.
Joining Coventry are the newly elected IOC members are: Danka Bartekova (Slovakia, shooting); James Tomkins (Australia, rowing); Tony Estanguet (France, canoeing).
They will serve eight-year terms.
The commission exists to make sure that athletes’ interests are protected in the IOC.
