A truck driver appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court after threatening the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC), the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is reporting.

Cosmas Kazuzu (45) of Chikanga Mutare, a ZCDC employee, faces intimidation charges.

Allegations are that, on the 5th of August 2024, Kazuzu contacted the CEO, purporting to be a member of the Vice President’s Office and threatened him.

He claimed possession of an incriminating document implicating the complainant.

Kazuzu demanded that the CEO withdraw disciplinary charges against the company’s human resources manager, Lavet Wadawarewa.

A week after gaining no traction, he contacted the complainant again, threatening him with dismissal if he did not follow his orders.

Kazuzu brazenly phoned the ZCDC chief security officer and demanded to know the position on the Wadawarewa suspension. He also emailed a document to ZCDC alleging that he had evidence against the complainant. Kazuzu demanded that the document be forwarded to the complainant’s email the same day.

A police report was made, leading to Kazuzu’s arrest.

The State is opposing bail.
