EU To Lift Sanctions On Zimbabwe On 23 July – Jonathan Moyo

The EU will suspend sanctions in Zimbabwe later this month, Professor Jonathan Moyo has told a Press Club.

The Telegraph had earlier reported that the UK and EU were planning to lift sanctions imposed on the Southern African country in 2001. They for long insisted that these were merely targeted sanctions on President Robert Mugabe and members of ZANU-PF. ZANU-PF insists that they were just a big con and hurt the average person more. UN Human Rights Commissioner Navi Pilay said the same.

The EU says that it is meant to encourage reform in Zimbabwe.
