Michael Manjengwa (39) of Baobab farm in Karoi has been convicted by a Karoi Magistrate facing attempted murder charges, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is reporting.
It was the state’s case that on the 12th Of May 2024, at around 1900 hours, the complainant Priority Kodzi (25) was at a bar, braaing with his colleagues, when Manjengwa approached them and asked for meat. They refused to share with him.
Manjengwa went away but returned after about thirty minutes holding a log and struck Kodzi once on the head, causing him to collapse after sustaining a deep cut on the forehead.
He was ferried to the hospital, which treated and discharged him.
Manjengwa was sentenced to 46 months imprisonment. Six months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
He will serve 36 months effective.
