A Karoi man will spend the next with spend the next 23 month ins prison after he stabbed a driver who could not give him a lift.
Rodgers Katemanyoka (34) was convicted and sentenced by a Karoi Magistrate on assault charges, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
The case
It is the state’s case that on the 23rd of March 2024 at 2130 hours the complainant was driving from Zebra Downs to Pompey Farm in Karoi, when he met Katemanyoka who stopped him with the intention of getting a lift.
The complainant informed the accused that the care was already full, as its full quota of five passengers had filled it up.
Katemanyoka was so angered that he ran after the vehicle and caught up with the complainant when he stopped to drop off some of the passengers. He stabbed the complainant on the back with a knife several times, once on the face and on the head accusing the complainant of refusing to give him a lift when he was in need of transport.
The accused person was stopped from further assaulting the complainant by members of the public.
The complainant sustained injuries on the head, face and on the back as a result of the assault.
