Victoria Falls woman gets 15 years for forcing man to have sex with her

A Victoria Falls woman will spend the next 15 years in jail, after she was found guilty of two counts aggravated indecent assault.

According to Zimbabwe’s National Prosecuting Authority, the 35-year-old woman was sentenced as such by a Hwange Magistrate.

The state’s case

It was the state’s case that some time in January 2023 the accused person coerced her 28 year old neighbour into having sexual relations with her without his consent at her field. The accused person also engaged in sexual activities with the complainant some time during the period extending from 1 February 2023 to 9 June 2023 without his consent.

How she was caught

The matter came to light when the complainant confided in his brother on the 10 June 2023 leading to the accused person’s arrest.

Note

Some may wonder why the woman was not charged with rape. The crime of rape is a specific one, and involves the penetration of a woman by a man. The equivalent crime where a male victim is involved is aggravated indecent assault, which carries the same penalty as rape.
