In a statement released today by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Bothwell Nkomo (28) appeared before the Victoria Falls Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing murder charges.

He is accused of killing his girlfriend, Amanda Dube.

Prosecutors allege that on March 18, 2024, Nkomo argued with Dube and strangled her to death with a shoelace. He reportedly did not report the incident and kept her body in his room for two days.

The body was discovered by a witness who went to Nkomo’s residence looking for Dube. The witness alerted the police, who arrested Nkomo and recovered the decomposing body.

Nkomo’s initial court appearance took place yesterday.

He was remanded in custody until April 4.
