Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani has reportedly is considering throwing his hat in the ring to head the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Mukuhlani has positioned himself as the voice of the smaller full member nations and Associates as he takes on the incumbent Greg Barclay, who is seeking a second two-year term as chairman.
Barclay goes in a as the favourite, but the fact that the ZC boss has thrown his hat in the ring this late may suggest he is finding encouragement as he puts in work to canvass support for his bid. There is conflicting reporting around where the BCCI will land its vote, with some sources claiming they want him and others saying they are leaning toward
Voting is on 12 and 13 November 2022.
Mukuhlani is part of the ICC’s Audit Committee and chair of the Membership Committee. He is also part of the global body’s Olympics working group, which is tasked with pushing for cricket’s entry in the Summer Games.
He has been ZC chairman since 2015, after winning a second term in 2019.
