Zimbabwe power situation to improve on Friday – Power Ministry

Zimbabwe’s power situation is set to improve significantly on Friday with the Ministry of Energy and Power Development Permanent Secretary Dr Gloria Magombo has said.

She confirmed the a post-cabinet briefing.

Dr Magombo said units 2 and 4 at Hwange Power Station were expected to come online on Friday, added to the grid.

She gave an update on what had caused the power to go down.

One of two units which went down in Kariba has been restored after it went down.

The 27th of September 2022 situation was caused by a system fault, which took it our for ‘about four and a half hours’. The incident was caused by a bushfire along the Alaska-Warren line which took out the whole system including imports.

As of Thursday, Zimbabwe was generating 1117MW.
