Chadcombe Robbery: Here is what is known

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has provided an update on the armed robbery incident at Joseph Nemaisa’s Chadcombe home in Harare on 6 December 2021.

Here is what is known

The dead suspects

Three suspects were shot and killed by Nemaisa and were identified as:

  • Brian Koga Tendere (38) of Chikupo Village, Murewa
    • recently released from prison after serving 10 years for robbery in Borrowdale, Harare in 2011
  • Charles Chirara (30), of number 573 Ushewokunze, Harare
    • was on bail, pending trial, for the ZB Bank robbery involving US$2,775,000 and ZWL40,000 cash in transit heist in Nyabira, 6 January 2021
  • Tariro Gora (21), of 1 Commando Barracks Harare
    • a rogue soldier who escaped from duty and was using a service rival

The arrested suspects

ZRP has confirmed it arrested Ex-Constable Francis Takura (33) and Private Virimai Nyandoro (37) of the Zimbabwe National Army. They had escaped from the Chadcombe robbery.

Other things, ammunition and weapons found

Police recovered:

  • A long shifting spanner
  • Five screw drivers
  • short bar spirit level
  • wheel spanner
  • Pliers

As for guns and ammunition at scene of the crime:

  • AK47 magazine loaded with 17×7.62mm live rounds
  • 12×7.62mm spent cartirdges
  • Norinco pistol with a magazine of six rounds at the scene of the crime

In Gora’s room

  • .22 rifle fitted with telescopic sight
  • a 303 rifle
  • AK 47 riffle fitted 25 lie rounds
  • AK47 magazine with 25 rounds
  • 303 rifle magazine with seven live rounds

Other crimes by the gang

Investigations by the ZRP link the above-mentioned Norinco pistol to one that was stolen through a robbery on 5 November 2021, at a house along Bishop Gaul Avenue on 5 November 2021.

One complainant identified his stolen shoes through the suspects’ pictures which were trending on social media.
