Youssou N’Dour Appointed Culture Minister

Senegalese musician Youssour N’Dour has been appointed tourism and culture minister in President Macky Sall’s government.

The Grammy-award winning artist, a fierce critic of former leader Abduolaye Wade, had in January caused quite a sensation when he declared that he would be running for president. He later campaigned for Sall after a court declared that he had provided enough signatures to back his nomination.

N’Dour joins a slimmed- down cabinet of 25  appointed by Prime Minister Abdoul Mbaye.

It looks as if Senegal is now moving forward in a direction which its great history deserves with people keen to make the difference necessary to work towards the country’s success.
