Big hitting all rounder Solomon Mire has made a return the fold in time for the upcoming one-day international series at home to Afghanistan.
The announcement was made by Zimbabwe Cricket.
Mire last played for Zimbabwe in 2015 at the World Cup before trekking off to his base in Australia where he has starred in club cricket.
It’s great to be back in red and I’m looking forward to some exciting action
Heath Streak, Zimbabwe head coach, who when appointed said he would work towards bringing some of Zimbabwe’s best talent back:
We are excited to have Solomon back in Zimbabwe colours and look forward to his contribution to the team. He will add balance to the team with his all-round ability and his inclusion will definitely strengthen our squad for Afghanistan
Meanwhile, the impressive Ryan Burl who was brilliant in the recent ‘A’ series has been picked in a 14-man squad for the Afghanistan series. Also in again is Tarisai Musakanda in spite of patchy form in the same series. Nathan Waller also gets a call-up. And there is a return for former captain Elton Chigumbura.
Left out at this stage are Sean Williams and Hamilton Masakadza.
Two more players will be picked from the provincial 50-over matches on this weekend.
