Zuma apologises for Nkandla scandal

South Africa president Jacob Zuma’s position on the Nkandla scandal has come full circle after he said he was sorry to the nation over the whole mess.

Speculation was rife that Zuma currently deep into his final term of office would resign from office after a judgement earlier this week said he failed to defend and uphold the constitution.

This was pertaining to a report made by public protector Thuli Madonsela which said he had to pay back part of the money that went into the upgrade of his Nkandla homestead. The constitutional court of that country said he had failed to protect Madonsela’s office.

Zuma, in a live TV address on Friday, said he will comply with the judgement adding that he did not ‘knowingly and deliberate set to violate the constitution’.

Any action that has been found not to be in keeping with the constitution happened because of a different approach and different legal advice

While this will be sufficient for his supporters, his detractors might be so gracious.
