This is on the eve of the start of its elite men’s T20 domestic tournament which was set to kick off in Harare Monday.

The announcement comes after the government instituted a level 4 lockdown which heavily stacked itself on a stay at home order following a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases across the country.

ZC says it will look at playing matches as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

Before the holiday break, two rounds of Logan Cup matches had been played. Prior to that a full national club cricket National Premier League tournament had been held. On top of that, the women’s provincial T20 and 50 over competitions had been held and completed.

Also, Zimbabwe had toured Pakistan for ODI and T20I matches.

This was all in the time after restrictions had been lifted by authorities following a previous Covid-19 lockdowns which had stopped cricketing activities.

It is not clear how the latest move affects plans for a return to international cricket that was scheduled for February this year in what is expected to be a packed calendar.
