Zim Domestic T20 Day 2: Mountaineers maul Eagles, Rhinos make it two in a row

Tendai Chatara and Wellington Masakadza led brilliant bowling onslaught as the Mountaineers bounced back from their opening day disappointment to beat the Eagles by six wickets at Old Hararians.

But it was not the batting from the Eastern Highlands side that was the highlight of the day as the Eagles were bowled out for just 82.

Only Cephas Zhuwao with 51 off 31 balls was able to contend with the bowlers.

Chatara ran out 3-13 while Masakadza had 3-15.

Roy Kaia followed up from his first innings half century to post 44. There was time for wickets to fall but the score was just too tiny and the Mountaineers made 84-4 in 12.4 overs.

In the second match Craig Ervine fell four short of his maiden T20 century with a blistering 96 from 53 balls for Tuskers.

Indeed the only other batsman to get past 20 was Tendai Maruma with 25.

All the same Tuskers put on what seemed like a competitive score.

Bar Anthony Moor who made his first runs (3) and Vusi Sibanda (4) all the other batsmen contributed for Rhinos as they chased down the score with seven balls to spare. In the end they got 183-6 to make it two out of two. Prince Masvaure top-scored with 48 for his side.

The premier domestic T20 tournament carries on Wednesday at Old Hararians before moving to the Holy Grail that is Harare Sports Club for a run until the final on Sunday.

Entrance is free.
