Premier Soccer League confirms 2 new Covid-19 cases

Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League has confirmed two new positive Covid-19 cases.

The two are a player and an official from the same club were excluded from activity on match day five of the Chibuku Super Cup. Tests were conducted on the weekend of 12/13 June 2021.

This brings to three, the number of positive cases that have been confirmed since the restart of football in the country. As with the first case, the league will not provide information on both the club and individuals affected.

That restart now hangs in limbo, after the government imposed a ban on all sporting activity in a move it says is meant to curb the spread in Covid-19 infections.
