Zimbabwe president Emmerson Mnangagwa has rejected his party’s calls to extend his term beyond 2028.
Secretary for Legal Affairs Cde Patrick Chinamasa said so while presenting resolutions at the ZANU PF National Annual People’s Conference on Saturday.
Chinamasa said Mnangagwa had confided in him on numerous occasions that he has no wish to extend
his mandate beyond the Constitutional provisions.
“His Excellency said he had a hand in crafting the current Constitution.
“I met him three times and he said he has no wish to extend his mandate beyond 2028,” Chinamasa said.
“This resolution will not go anywhere,” he added.
